Capturing Forever: 3 Reasons Why a Wedding Film Is a Must-Have

Updated: Oct 21, 2023

Have you ever left a movie theater feeling like you could solve the next impossible math equation or take on an entire army with a pool noodle? Well… not with a pool noodle, but you get the gist. We’ve all had this feeling once or twice in our lives and what you are experiencing is the power of storytelling.

There are many ways to tell a story, but there is no other method quite as powerful as video. Whether you’re a film fanatic or not, placing value on a wedding film will make a major difference.

Here’s our point - If hiring a wedding videographer is not on your priority list, we highly encourage you to give it a second thought.

Follow along as we explain three reasons why:

#1: Wedding Films Showcase Authentic Movement & Moments

Do you remember when Apple introduced the “Live Photo” function? Well, it is my belief that although photographs are incredible, it's the few moments before that capture the entire story. It’s movement, laughter, and emotion that bring you back to the moments you enjoyed the most.

Imagine this, you decide to have a first look on the day of your wedding and it turns out to be a beautiful, authentic, emotion filled moment, but all you have to look back on is a photo. When you're sitting down with your family years down the line, I promise you’re going to wish you could relive that moment through video.

Our life isn’t a photograph, and you shouldn’t remember it as one.

#2: Music & Sounds Evoke Emotion

Take a look at this clip from a recent wedding we filmed at Hayloft on the Arch in Vernon Center, New York and tell me which version feels better.

Do you understand my point? Music and natural sounds are the driving force of an authentic story and can enhance emotion of particular moments. Most filmmakers, including me, would tell you that 70% of telling a good story is with powerful audio. You should be able to close your eyes and feel what's happening in the film.

When editing a wedding film, it’s critical to perfect the soundtrack. This process starts before we step foot on the wedding venue. Every couple has musical preferences, and when I’m getting to know our couples, one of my favorite questions to ask is what kind of music they like to listen to. I use this information in every single wedding film we make.

#3: Your Special Day Only Happens Once

Pretend twenty-years have passed since your wedding and your family comes together to celebrate your anniversary. You fire up your laptop, pull up your wedding film, and all of a sudden the room fills with joy as you get to relive and feel the same emotions as you did twenty-years ago…

Your wedding day is packed with moments you can never get back, but you can relive them through video. I promise, that if it is not for you, family and friends in the generations to come would do nearly anything to see you in the happiest days of your life.

It’s your love story, let it live!

We would be grateful to capture your day!
